At FRL, our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for augmented, virtual, and mixed-reality experiences.We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mixed-Reality Haptic Rendering Algorithms and Software Researcher to join our team, whose mission is to work with a broad range of multidisciplinary research to advance the state of the art for audio/haptic rendering focusing on wearable interaction devices. We are specifically looking for a candidate with excellent programming skills, expertise in designing real-time simulations, and breadth in areas related to software haptic rending.More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers, designers, and engineers, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
  • Frame, scope, plan, and execute haptic/audio rendering algorithms and software focusing on wearable interaction devices for AR/VR
  • Work with researchers, designers, engineers, and other roles, to enable AR/VR interaction demos to test critical hypotheses
  • Connect and drive collaborations with academic/industry labs to advance research in relevant areas

  • PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other field related to haptic rendering
  • 10 years experience with haptic rendering algorithms, real-time simulations, graphics, and optimization
  • 10 years experience in software development and experience working in C , Python, MATLAB, and other relevant software
  • 10 years experience designing algorithms and software for haptic displays spanning novel research to commercially available, and impedance type to admittance type
  • Track record of achieving results, including first-authored conference/journal publications or public presentations
